Each April, we honor and raise awareness for the millions of people living with limb loss and limb difference across the U.S. This month is dedicated to celebrating strength, promoting understanding, and advocating for better access to prosthetic care and support.

Why Awareness Matters

Recent studies indicate that over 5.6 million Americans are living with limb loss and limb difference. Whether due to trauma, vascular conditions like diabetes, or congenital differences, every journey is unique. Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month brings attention to the challenges faced by this community while amplifying the voices of those who live it every day.

What You Can Do on Limb Loss Awareness Day

Limb Loss Awareness Day (recognized during the month of April) is a powerful opportunity to show support, drive visibility, and foster inclusion for the limb loss and limb difference community.

Whether you’re part of the community, know someone who is, or simply want to be an ally—there are many meaningful ways to participate:

  • Support adaptive sports events. Attend or volunteer at local competitions that celebrate athleticism, resilience, and inclusion.

  • Share stories on social media. Use the hashtags  #LLLDAM2025 #LimbLossAwarenessMonth to amplify voices, promote awareness, and challenge stigma.

  • Attend educational presentations and showcases. These events help foster understanding and highlight technological advancements in prosthetic care.

  • Organize or contribute to fundraisers. Donations help increase access to prosthetic devices and fuel research into new innovations.

  • Share resources and promote inclusivity. Whether it’s through your workplace, school, or community group, education and open conversation make a big impact.
